Artist Statement

“I reflect on the quiet moments, nostalgic interpretations of a landscape I am familiar with yet distanced from. The American imagery I choose, isolated and individual, radiates with a subtle intensity. A psychological tension builds as painted forms are brought into a relational proximity. Yet where traditional motifs may recede back into the pictorial plane allowing for a serene escape, the painterly brushwork with its bold color declares itself on the surface, shifting the artwork from the natural world to the abstract.”
